Job Summary: The Storekeeper is responsible for overseeing the inventory and organization of a bookstore. This role involves managing stock levels, ensuring the availability of products, and maintaining a well-organized and efficient store environment. Key Responsibilities: Inventory Management: Receive, inspect, and record new book deliveries. Ensure that books and merchandise are stored properly to prevent damage. Monitor inventory levels and place reorders when necessary. Conduct regular stock audits and reconcile physical stock with computer records. Track and manage damaged or defective inventory and coordinate returns with suppliers. Stock Organization: Organize books and merchandise according to store layout and categories. Ensure that shelves are well-stocked, neat, and properly labeled. Implement effective storage solutions for backstock and seasonal items. Customer Service: Assist customers with locating specific titles and recommending books based on their interests. Handle special orders and manage customer requests related to book availability. Provide a high level of customer service to enhance the shopping experience. Sales Support: Support in setting up and organizing book events, signings, and promotions. Assist in preparing and maintaining visual merchandising to attract customers. Administrative Duties: Maintain accurate records of inventory transactions and adjustments. Ensure compliance with store policies and procedures related to inventory management. Qualifications: Education: High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification in business or retail management is a plus. Experience: Previous experience in retail, especially in a bookstore or similar environment, is preferred. Skills: o Strong organizational and time management skills. o Attention to detail with a keen eye for accuracy in inventory management. o Good communication and customer service skills. o Ability to lift and carry books and other merchandise. o Capability to stand, bend, and reach for extended periods.
